Jason Maughan founded and serves as the Managing Attorney at the Maughan Himschoot & Associates Law Group. Jason earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stetson University and his Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law, as well as a Master of European Union Law from University College Dublin, Ireland.

Jason is dedicated to serving his clients in state court and federal court on single issues to complex issues dealing with commercial matters (domestic and international), construction issues, corporate, and real estate litigation.  Jason understands how issues can disrupt business, affecting the bottom line, and for that reason, he strives to help his clients achieve favorable resolutions to their legal issues from the Boardroom to the Courtroom.  Jason listens to his clients’ needs and works to ensure that their short-term and long-term goals are addressed. Jason has been named in the top 5% of Attorneys in Florida as a peer reviewed Super Lawyer.

Jason served as an elected Councilman on the Sanibel City Council as well as the Sanibel Planning Commission.   He aids and serves on various civil and charitable organizations and is a Member of the Florida bar, Federal Bar, U.S. Curt of International Trade, Lee County Bar, American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the American Inns of Court and the Federalist Society.

Jason is a devoted husband of 26 years to his wife Babs, a local realtor, and involved father of their Son Ronan, serving as Scoutmaster for Sanibel Island.   Jason is an avid hunter and enjoys paddle-boarding, camping, and boating with his family when not winning for you!

Jason R. Himschoot, Esq.


Jason R. Himschoot is a third generation Floridian from Fort Myers, Florida and has been practicing law in the Southwest Florida area (including Fort Myers, Naples, Bonita, Estero, Sanibel, Captiva and all surrounding areas) for over 20 years.   

Jason brings many years of experience in trial practice involving a broad spectrum of law.  Mainly focusing on real estate, business and contract matters involving condominiums, homeowner’s associations, developers, contractors, construction defects, title and boundary disputes, insurance related claims and other related issues.  Jason has handled many large scale/complex matters from trial to appeal.  Jason’s objective for all clients is to bring a practical, economic and efficient approach to helping them solve complex legal issues. 

He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida, where he achieved Dean’s List honors in six out of eight semesters. He earned his juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University and was a board member of the Nova Law Review for two years and his article was chosen to be published in the Law Review on Florida’s Offer/Proposal for Settlement Laws.

Jason has always believed in civic duty and has been involved in many philanthropic and public service endeavors including serving as the Chairman of Human Resources for the Early Learning Coalition, Rotary South Treasurer of the Boy Scouts Pack 93, coaching youth for Fort Myers American Little League and Gateway Soccer and serving on the continuing education committee for the Royal Palm Coast Realtors Association along with many other public service initiatives. Jason is a loving father and husband of three boys and enjoys the outdoors, sports and travel with his family.
